The Intentional Shift: How Curating My Choices Transformed My Well-being and Daily Routines.

I used to think that more was better. More options, more commitments, more complexity—I felt the constant pressure to add, but all that excess was just a massive mental burden that wasn’t letting me focus on the things that truly mattered: my well-being, my next trip, and simple, fulfilling routines. That pivotal shift—from chaos to purpose—is why I started My Curated Living. This is a space dedicated to shedding the non-essential choices so we can fully invest in the essentials: sustainable travel, functional DIY projects, simple, fueling recipes, and effective movement. Welcome to the intentional lifestyle project. I’m Hannah, and here’s how deciding to choose with purpose gave me more energy than ever.

The Burden of “Busy”

For years, I was chasing an illusion of perfection. This translated into saying yes to every commitment, following complicated cooking trends, and believing success meant having a cluttered schedule. But the truth was, all that striving left me feeling mentally drained, with no genuine focus for the simple things that truly matter, like consistent routines and meaningful time off. I was living a life full of non-essential choices that were draining my energy, and I knew a fundamental change was necessary.

Curating My Movement

I realized that chasing generic, complicated workout trends was unsustainable and ineffective. My fitness journey only truly began when I applied the same intentional filter to my routine that I was applying to my life. I made the shift to focusing on simple, consistent strength training and prioritizing my running sessions, turning them into a non-negotiable mental space rather than just a means to burn calories.

One of the first intentional habits I built was a simple [20-minute glute activation routine] that helps me feel strong and injury-free before every run.

The real breakthrough came from curating my weightlifting routine to fit my body and my schedule. I stopped doing what everyone else was doing and designed a focused program that emphasized compound movements. The result was amazing: I quickly started to feel stronger, and I began to build noticeable muscle and tone. It proved that the best results come not from complexity, but from choosing what is essential and effective for me.

Curating My Environment

When I began to embrace intentionality, my relationship with my physical space completely changed. My goal wasn’t to clear everything out; it was to ensure that every single item and project brought me genuine joy. This is the crucial part of curation: I don’t have to compromise anything I love. I still get to enjoy a beautiful, cozy space filled with ‘pretty things’—but now, every piece is intentional.

This philosophy directly feeds my passion for DIY and upcycling. I realized that creating something functional and beautiful with my own hands, or giving new life to an old piece, brings me a unique sense of happiness and resourcefulness. It feels good to build and decorate with a purpose, making my home truly a peaceful, intentional backdrop for the rest of my life.

Curating My Fuel & Adventure

The final steps in building an intentional lifestyle are all about nurturing myself and saying yes to beautiful experiences. In the kitchen, my focus is on cooking for vitality—choosing radiant, nourishing ingredients that make me feel strong and give me that inner glow. It’s about listening to my body with care and ensuring every meal genuinely supports my energy, making cooking a joyful, restorative ritual.

My travel philosophy is now rooted in effortless, smart preparation. I’ve replaced the stress of complicated itineraries and overstuffed bags with a refined, intentional approach. Now, every piece I pack is chosen purely for the activities and aesthetic of the destination. This functional packing ensures I look great and feel completely prepared, allowing me to savor every joyful moment of the adventure.
