Designing for Stillness: Our Bathroom Reveal

I believe that our environment shapes our mindset. It is hard to feel calm and organized internally when your physical space feels chaotic or dated.

Earlier this year, we had been deep in the renovation of our second property. It was a messy, loud process, but I kept picturing the finish line: a space that felt quiet, clean, and completely removed from the noise.

This bathroom is the first finished space in the house, and it honestly feels like a breath of fresh air.

The Aesthetic: Simplicity First

When we were planning this design, I kept coming back to the idea of “visual quiet.” I wanted a space that didn’t demand attention but just felt… right.

We stuck to a high-contrast black and white palette because it feels grounded. There is no visual clutter—just clean lines and intentional details.

The Key Pieces

Since we were doing this ourselves, we wanted to find pieces that looked high-end but were easy to source. We ended up finding almost everything online, which made the logistics so much easier.

The Mirrors: We layered two different styles to create depth. The Black Arched Floor Mirror opens up the space, and the Backlit LED Vanity Mirror gives the room that soft, diffused glow perfect for skincare routines.

The Vanity Light: To complement the LED mirror, we added a sleek, modern Matte Black Vanity Light above it for task lighting that matches the room’s aesthetic.

The Glass: We swapped the old setup for this Grid Shower Enclosure. The clear glass keeps the small room feeling open and airy, while the black grid adds that modern architectural touch.

The Details: To tie it all together, we matched the shower hardware to the rest of the room. The matte black finish against the white tile creates that crisp, clean look I love.

The Takeaway

If this project taught me anything, it’s that you don’t need a massive budget or a professional design team to create a space that feels clean and calm. By sticking to a simple palette and focusing on a few key details—like the arched mirror and the lighting—we were able to completely transform the energy of the room.
